Skip is a great guy. I'm in 35, so Weiss in my elected rep. (Not that I ever have voted for her liberal views!!) Put some pressure on Skip as a citizen of his District. After all, he is one of the vice-chairs of Ross's committee. He has a golden opportunity to be part of the solution.

Agreed, Skip regularly does communicate with me. my rep. UNLIKE my Senator who doesn't respond to squat. Neither are part of the problem. The problem is the Dems have control, so they are pushing their agenda and DO NOT pay attention to their MAJORITY constituents. LISTEN UP, election time is coming. IF you want your RKBA views heard, make them pay for it at election time. The NCGA does NOT understand compromise, only PAIN. If we as a RKBA COMMUNITY statewide stand and make them go home (accountable) for not following the majority, they will get the message.

All, here is an article that GRNC President Paul Valone recently published in the Charlotte Gun Rights Examiner. I have pasted it below but I recommend that you click on the link and subscribe. This is a great way to stay informed of the evolving Second Amendment battle in NC and how GRNC is engaging those who oppose our Second Amendment freedoms.
Representatives Hugh Holliman and Deborah Ross deny hearing for popular bill In politics, committees are graveyards for bills. Politicians want votes, money and power. Being held accountable for recorded votes on legislation potentially threatens all three. Ergo, the easiest way to kill a bill without going on record against it is to simply ignore it. This they do by shunting the bill to a committee from which it will never see the light of a hearing. Such is the possible fate of Senate Bill 928, “The Castle Doctrine. Unsurprisingly, it is being held hostage by Democrats. Surprisingly, it was introduced by a Democrat – Senator Doug Berger (Franklin, Granville, Vance, Warren) – and has already passed the Democrat-controlled North Carolina Senate. Alas, none of that seems to matter to N.C. House Majority Leader Hugh Holliman (Davidson), who has reportedly told constituents he will do nothing to rein in Rep. Deborah Ross (Wake), the virulently anti-gun chair of the Judiciary I Committee where the bill languishes. After SB 928 passed the Senate on May 14 and was referred to the House, Democrats quickly erected obstacles to its passage: While a bill typically receives a single committee hearing from which, if passed, it heads for a vote by the full chamber, SB 928 will face a gauntlet of three committees. Understand that Holliman and Ross are acutely aware that North Carolina voters want the bill to become law. Each has received thousands of e-mails and phone calls demanding a hearing. Indeed, Ross has been gracious in accepting such calls … before feeding callers rationalizations on why the bill hasn’t been heard. For example, Ross maintains she is hearing “non-controversial” bills first, but doesn’t explain what should be “controversial” about a bill which simply reinforces the right of lawful citizens to protect themselves from imminent death or serious bodily injury. Indeed, if SB 928 is so “controversial,” why did it pass the Senate by a vote of 42 to 2? To others, she has claimed that stalling the hearing gives opposing sides an opportunity to “work out differences.” Really? Then why not designate a subcommittee to work out substitute language acceptable to all? This week, the General Assembly adjourned until May, 2010. Fortunately, because SB 928 passed one chamber, it remains alive for next year. Anyone who either lives or spends time in North Carolina should let Holliman and Ross know they will be held accountable for flouting the will of voters. ACT NOW Contact Rep. What is interesting is that the committee the CD bill came out in the state senate is chaired by a Republican- Fletcher Hartsell.
I'm curious as to why a Republican is allowed to chair a committee in the state senate controlled by Democrats. Anybody know? Thanks |
